Egy késelő az Opera fantomja maszkjában és parókában szúrta halálra a recepcióst, London Plaistow városrészének egyik nyelviskolájában, egy másik nőt megsebesített, majd a saját torkát is elvágta.

Legalább negyven rendőrt vezényeltek ki a gyilkosság helyszínére a St. George nyelviskolához Kelet-Londonba. Egy maszkos férfi, aki az Operaház fantomjának álarcát öltötte magára, berontott az iskolába és késsel támadt két nőre, akik recepciósként dolgoztak az iskolában. Az egyikük, egy 23 éves ázsiai nő meghalt, de a másik nő csak megsebesült, ezért még el tudott menekülni és a riasztót is működésbe hozta.

A 29 éves férfi ezután feltételezhetően öngyilkossági szándékkal elvágta a saját torkát. A nő, aki túlélte a támadást elmondta, hogy az álarcot és parókát viselő gyilkos nem véletlenszerűen választotta ki a recepcióst, mert amikor az áldozat elkezdett menekülni, utána eredt. A rendőrségnek sikerült a helyszínen elfogni a 29 éve gyilkost, és a vérben úszó gyilkos fegyvert is megtalálták.

Knifeman wearing 'Phantom of the Opera' mask stabs to death woman receptionist at language school

A crazed knifeman wearing a Phantom of the Opera mask allegedly stabbed a woman to death and attacked her friend before trying to take his own life.

The man allegedly stormed into the language college where the 23-year-old woman worked as a receptionist and teacher.He repeatedly slashed her in the chest and neck, lunging for her friend and college manager Kiran Asghar when she ran outside to get help.

Local residents said the 29-year-old killer may have been stalking the woman who died in the run-up to the bloodbath. She was said to have been due to wed in January.

Malik Ijaz, 40, who runs a builder’s merchants below the school, raced upstairs after Mrs Asghar came down screaming.He found the attacker still stabbing his victim’s lifeless body.He said: ‘I saw a man in a mask stabbing a girl. I don’t know how many times he stabbed her, but she had already passed out and he was still stabbing her.’

A probationary police constable called to the scene grappled with the killer to get hold of the weapon as he started stabbing himself in the neck. The assailant, thought to be Asian, was arrested and taken to hospital where he remains under police guard in a stable condition.He has had an operation for his injuries and is expected to be discharged and taken to a police station by Friday.

Mrs Asghar, 21, who was born in Pakistan, suffered a stab wound to the shoulder and was taken to hospital but discharged.Detectives are investigating whether the attacker had been stalking or harassing the woman who died in the days leading up to the murder.So far, they have found no record of her making a complaint to police about him. The victim, of Pakistani origin, is thought to have lived in Dagenham, East London.

She is expected to be named after police complete a post-mortem examination.The horror unfolded at 6pm on Monday at St George’s College, a small language and business school based in a first-floor office above shops in Plaistow, East London.

Abid Malik, 37, who runs a cab office yards from the scene, said when police arrived they found the masked man with a knife still lodged in his neck.He said: ‘The first girl came downstairs and said, “He’s killing her, he’s killing her”. 'Then Mr Ijaz went upstairs and the man who had a white mask on was sitting on top of the girl stabbing her.  He came for Mr Ijaz, who ran away downstairs.

'The guy with the knife wanted to stab him and chased him. Then the police
came.

‘Before it happened Mr Ijaz saw him going past the shop. He said, “I saw a guy with a long coat and long hair and I remember he was trying to avoid my sight”.’

Last night Mrs Asghar’s landlord, Mohammed Noorani, said: ‘I’ve been told the girl who died was engaged to a man in Dubai and she was very much looking forward to getting married.’Detective Chief Inspector Bob Mahoney, who is leading the investigation, praised the bravery of his officers.

He said: ‘The suspect was seen immediately before the incident in the local area wearing a black curly wig and a Phantom of the Opera-style face mask.

‘We would appeal for anyone who may have seen him to contact us as soon as possible.‘I would also like to pay tribute to the bravery of the first officers on the scene – one a probationer – who, with little regard to their own safety, ran inside and disarmed
the suspect of the knife he was holding. They then made the arrest.’

St George’s College attracts mostly international students and has an office in Lahore,Pakistan.
